Fun Saturday

Zane, just after flipping the switch to set the machine in motion

Some of our fondest memories are of the Saturdays soon after we moved to Minnesota, when we didn't have plans with friends, church or school commitments, or house responsibilities. None of those things are bad, but the fact that we didn't have any of those things on our calendar meant we could take a day to just do something fun...we took lots of short day trips and explored the area. Today kind of reminded me of one of those Saturdays.
We headed to Purdue to see some of the national Rube Goldberg competition. This year's task was to water a plant...a simple job that had to be completed by the machine in no less than 20 steps. We didn't make it to see all of the entries run, but we were able to see the end of the competition and then walk around to see them up-close. We spent quite a bit of time watching the Penn State team re-set their machine and then they asked if anyone wanted to start it...and Zane did :o) This team ended up winning 2nd place!
