Hello all-
The month of May ended with a huge storm (see pictures left). I can't comment much more without totally losing it, so let's just hope I have pictures of a new and improved basement next month.

May began with a recital. Both Quinn and Clara did a great job and had quite an audience in attendance--all of their grandparents, one great-grandma, some cousins and some special friends--wow!! They both have been working hard and are doing a great job. You'll see a few pictures from the recital in our album below. Millie also finished ballet with a little demonstration for parents that was quite entertaining :o) We were happy to see that although Millie rarely listens to or obeys us at home lately, she DID behave quite nicely in class. I'm not sure if that's good or bad, but we'll take whatever good behavior we can get!

I went to Chicago for Mother's Day weekend with two good friends. We had a good time shopping, visiting the art museum, shopping, going to movies, shopping...we did a little eating, too!

The next weekend was New York! We have always wanted to go see Scott one of the times he played in New York, but it hasn't worked out until now. My Dad met us there and we went to the concert at Carnegie Hall and did a little sight-seeing the rest of the weekend. We did, however, decide that next time we would plan to fly in the day BEFORE the concert. We were due to arrive in New York at 12:30 p.m., in plenty of time for the 8:00 concert. But due to rain on the east coast we experienced multiple delays, ended up flying through Minneapolis (if we'd know we would have met a friend or two for lunch!) and arriving in New York at 7:00. We changed for the concert in the airport restrooms (not something I'd like to do again), got a cab and pulled up in front of Carnegie Hall at about 7:59!! They were calling to close the doors as we raced up the 3 flights of stairs to our seats. I think it took the whole first movement for my heart rate to return to normal! It was a fabulous concert, and the English Horn player was awesome :o) Saturday we all had breakfast together before Scott had to return to Chicago...it was kind of humorous that each time we took the subway it involved a 10 minute conversation about which train to get on and whether or not it was going the right way! Matt and I only messed up once (I don't think Dad messed up at all) so it wasn't so bad. We walked through Central Park and had to take a ride on the carousel in honor of one of our family's favorite books, Micawber. We went in the American Girl Place, walked through Rockerfeller Plaza and Times Square (wow, some VERY interesting people-watching there!) and went back to our hotel before heading down to Battery Park and the Statue of Liberty tour. Sunday we visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We saw lots and lots of neat things, and we were excited to see some paintings by Vermeer (who we really knew little about before we all read a cool book by Blue Balliett, Chasing Vermeer). It was a jam-packed trip, but what an amazing time we had!

School ended in a flurry of activity, with programs, field trips and Last Day of school parties. We are thankful to Miss Angle, Mrs. Padgett, and Mr. Palmer for helping make our first year at Mary Castle a good one!

So summer has officially begun at our house and we are planning some fun days swimming, reading, and taking in some activities in the Indy area. Hopefully we'll have lots to share next month!
