May 2009

What a packed month we've had. I'm so thankful that summer is here! And even though baseball is still keeping us busy right now, we have had some fun relaxing days already. We love the neighborhood pool and we've already seen a couple of movies.

I had my last busy week with work at the beginning of May and then our own family activities really picked up--it always seems to work that way, doesn't it? As soon as one thing slows down, another picks up! We were so proud to get some yard work done and even had mulch delivered the last week of April. Two days after it was laid, we found a million dead bugs in the basement--termites! (what we found are called swarmers, but where there are swarmers, apparently there are termites). We are hoping that is this summer's only problem with the house. We are ready to work on some fun projects instead of damage repair!

The kids had a busy month as school ended. There were lots of field trips, Field Day, fourth grade coffee house, school talent show (scroll down the blog for previous posts from those), fifth grade "graduation" and baseball/softball/teeball! We have had fun, but are exhausted most evenings! We are thankful to have successfully completed another year of school--this was a tough one for lots of reasons and we hope next year is a little easier.

You can see pictures from May here.

I'll leave you with my favorite Millie quote of the month:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag
of the United States of America
And to the Republic for which it stands
Dalmatians, invisible, under God
With liberty and justice for all."

She really made us laugh with that one. Have a great summer!
Love,
Janette, Matt, Quinn, Clara, Zane and Millie
